Join the local Rochester ISSA chapter for our July chapter meeting.
Please join the Rochester ISSA Chapter for a presentation provided by Technical Special Agent Edward Sakocius and Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst Thomas Barillari. Edward and Thomas are members of the United States Secret Service, Buffalo Field Office.
They will provide an engaging talk about understanding Ransomware and Battlefield Forensics. They aim to dive a bit deeper into ransomware attacks and methods seen over the past year. The second half will cover how the USSS can assist your team if responding to one of these attacks.

Technical Special Agent Edward Sakocius is a Digital Forensic Incident Responder at the Buffalo Field Office with 16 years at the Secret Service. He has responded to many incidents involving business email compromise, ransomware, and point of sale compromise at both small businesses and large organizations. Prior to joining the USSS, TSA Sakocius was a Communication and Information Systems Officer with the Marine Corps and served overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
NIFA Thomas Barillari has over 22 years of active law enforcement experience. Tom recently retired to join the United States Secret Service as a Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst (NIFA). His primary responsibilities as the NIFA are to assist the Investigative Team at the Buffalo Secret Service Field Office and throughout New York State with all aspects related to Cyber Intrusions, Electronic Fraud, Cryptocurrency and all other high profile cyber investigations. He has spent the last 4 years on the USSS’s Cyber Fraud Task Force as a Task Force Officer, assisting not only the USSS, but also federal, state and local law enforcement partners. He is also the primary responder to any network intrusion related incidents within the region, including high profile cases related to financial institutions.
